For Booksellers
Twin Cities Independent Bookstore Passport Details
Fine Print: Any store with a brick and mortar storefront in the Twin Cities can participate in this program. Participation in the larger IBD is encouraged, but not necessary. There is no cost to participate, but it does require the use of Kevin Cannon's illustration for MIBA's Indie Bookstore Roadmap. If you do not have access to that digital file, you can commission him to illustrate your store for $50, which will include a digital image, the physical original illustration, and the rights to the image to use however you like moving forward (totes, t-shirts, social media logos etc).
Here's how the passport works: On Independent Bookstore Day, participating bookstores make the passports available to customers. Stamp your page in the passport on this day only. Stamping your page activates the coupon for your store. If a customer gets five store stamps on IBD, confirm and then stamp a special page in the back of the passport that activates every coupon on the passport. If a customer gets ten store stamps, confirm and stamp the prize entry card in the back of the passport. They leave the stamped card with you to enter a drawing for the prize pack. If a customer gets all of the stamps, confirm and stamp the appropriate square in the prize entry card. They leave the card with you. This enters them into the raffle for the grand prize pack.
What you need to do: Select a book to be your contribution to the grand prize pack. Write a letter explaining why you selected this book. During the week prior to IBD, come to one of the pickup locations to retrieve your passports, stamp, and ink pad, and drop off your selected book and letter. On IBD, have fun! After IBD, return your completed prize cards, stamps, and ink pads to the dropoff locations.
